Crowthorne Archers invites people of all ages to try archery and enjoy the sport. Archery is particularly suited for whole family participation and we provide properly qualified and insured instruction together with all the equipment necessary to start. The basics of the sport are easy to learn, with no significant physical requirements, only a responsible attitude.

Many of our archers shoot purely for recreation, but others have worked hard at their shooting and have been very successful in competition. Some of our members have represented Berkshire in the adult recurve, adult longbow and junior teams. Our junior members have been particularly successful, many having held British titles. One represented Great Britain in 2004 and another in 1996.

  • Where are we ?

Our home range is near the centre of Crowthorne. We shoot there every Sunday and most bank holiday Mondays. During the lighter evenings we also shoot from 6:00pm till dusk on Wednesdays and Fridays.   In winter we also shoot in a local sports centre on Saturday afternoons.

  • Coaching Facilities.

Crowthorne has a number of well qualified coaches who are experienced with coaching people of all ages and ability levels. Coaching is provided free of charge for club members and coaches are always pleased to be of help. As well as helping club members our coaches participate regularly in county events and put on instruction courses for beginners.

  • Organisation.

Crowthorne Archers are run by a Committee consisting of Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Equipment officer, Records officer, Junior representative plus 2-3 ordinary committee members.   Members are encouraged to take an interest in the organisation, to support club events and to take an active interest in its running.

  • The social side.

Crowthorne is a club for both  families and individuals who enjoy  a friendly atmosphere.  We don't just shoot but aim to have a good a time as well.

  • What it costs.

Members pay an annual fee which covers Club membership, target fees for the year, insurance and affiliation to the Grand National Archery Society, along with affiliations to county and regional organisations.

The club provides outdoor shooting on our ground every Sunday,  with additional evenings each Wednesday and Friday throughout the summer.  These are free to members but occasionally we hire a larger field for clout shoots  and the cost for this is divided between members taking part.

In the winter, the club hires facilities in a local sports centre on Saturday afternoons. This is charged for separately and is additional to club membership fees.
